Christmas today
Alright guys, few goodies came to my doorstep today...harmonic balancer (thanks Ed ), and the fan clutch (rock auto..oem). Already have the Melling, and p/s pump installed other day...
My ?, is the removal of the h/b. I read about, believe it was "duck-fan", where he mentioned about the lack of real-estate to get an impact in there to break ther bolt, so he wedged the breaker into the frame and bumped the starter. I'm all for it, but try'n to remember the rotation of the balancer...looking at it, would be counter-clockwise, correct? If so, then is the bolt itself left-handed threaded?

Another question, how or none at all, of oil will i lose, when removing the lpop. Should i pull the drainplug and completely drain it? Just did the oil chsnge with synthetic, if i have to, i'll get a new/clean bucket to catch it, and refill with it, using a paint strainer or something ofthat nature.

If you let the truck sit and get completely cold (like overnight) you will not lose much oil at all, especially if you can manage to get the front of the truck higher. I don't think I even lost a quart when I changed my LPOP. The oil pan is big enough to hold all the oil. I think the oil that comes out when you take it off is what was stuck in the pump.
