F-250 manual to auto swap

I'm wanting to swap my ZF5 for an auto trans. I know everyone likes the ZF5 but I'm tired of changing gears. I don't tow anything other than my jon boat. And I have some questions. Will I need any kind of wire harness for the tranny? Also will I need the auto computer? I haven't bought a tranny yet I'm just trying to get an idea if I really want to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

once you explore why you want to ditch your zf5 for an auto, and you come to the conclusion you still want an auto. . .

figure out which auto trans you want, and that will dictate what parts youll have to accumulate in order to make it all work. it basically comes down to using the proper flexplate for each auto trans respectively, and finding a computer if its applicable (i.e. you pick one of the computer controlled trannys).

Get a C6. Not computer controlled so you keep all your stock electronics.

plan on getting a new transmission crossmember, change out the steering column, get new front and rear driveshafts due to the change in tranny length. you might be better off selling what you have and buying a truck with an auto
