Damn Lariat 85 that is just a fantastic looking engine compartment. The fuel line looks like it was a bit of a challenge. Nice work.

Thanks, Boss! The fuel line was actually no trouble at all because I bought it that way.

I purchased the stainless fuel line from NPD as a stock replacement. Sine the stock Motorcraft 2150 my truck originally came with has the fuel filter in the exact same ocation as the Autolite 4100, it was a perfect fit with no modifications.

the aluminum mounting piece you can still buy it from Ford, I was looking for a replacement for mine that was broken on my 351w on my '78. Ford dealership had six of them and they are not obsolete at the time when I looked about 5 years ago but the price tag was $165 for just the aluminum piece.

I personally bought a 1969 Mustang 351W alternator mount that mounts further out on the head but the front support mount I wasn't able to use as the water pumps were different between '69 and '78 resulting in it not actually fitting flush on the front of my alternator.

Personally on mine I was going to use the OEM bracket but out source one and cut the airpump mount portion off for use on the roller 302 I will be building. This will keep the opening in the bracket to allow the heater hose to pass to the water pump and you don't have to try to remember what belt just order the belt for your year/make/model.

I know, back from the dead... But just wanted to check before I buy. I gather this is the kit we/I need to remove that air pump bracket on my 1986 F150 with the 302?

If you are trying to do exactly what the original poster did that wont work. I tried using that bracket on my '78 351 and it didnt work out properly. The hardest thing to locate how ever is the head mount where the alternator pivot bolt mounts. Those are getting hard to find as they were prone to breakage. The one on my '78 was broken and it took nearly 3 years to source a replacement.

Its why I am sticking with a modified original bracket on my 302 cause I have experience with them breaking and trying to source the head mount that I dont care to deal with it. Ill stick with the eye sore bracket with the air pump ears cut off before I backdate to a questionable mounting system.

Thanks, I'm also thinking, just pull that big air pump bracket and cut off what is not needed. It does sound like a safer bet. You can see the end of the pivot bolt in the bracket. Might be easier to drop the alternator, bag it, use a sawzall to cut the bracket.

Honestly thats what I would do. I dont know how many dealerships I called up trying to find a replacement for my broken head mount for my 351W and every dealership passed me off to the old timer and they all told me the same thing, they are cast aluminum very fragile and quite prone to breakage as there is only two bolts that holds it to the head with two different alternator mount points in the middle. Your dipstick if you have a car for example also bolted to this same bracket as well.

Currently I am running some cobbled together GM bracket I cut and modified to work with just one bolt as when the alternator bracket broke it put stress on the bolt and broke it off in the head. It might not be as big a problem as I was told by numerous dealerships I called up seeking the part but the fact I had it happen on mine has me very wary of them.
