Didn't want to hijack SMOKERSTEVE's thread so....

I was looking at my front end (2004) and noticed that both of the outer seal/dust seal for each axle is popped out and has been for a while, from what I can tell. I have several friends (5)..the same truck and ALL of theirs are out as well. Obviously this isn't normal (could be wrong) but I am wondering what the h*ll?

Is this a problematic issue with these DANA 60's?

Am I in for trouble down the road if I dont fix them ASAP?

Is their an updated seal kit?

I would have posted in the correct forum but I respect the opinion from the heavy hitters on this forum!

Thanks for the help.
Joe

if you drive in pretty clean areas you really dont have much to worry about. there just dust seals.
yes there is a much better updated part.

Thanks cheezit.....I drive mostly city streets with occasional offroading, nothing too crazy. To be honest with you I do not know how long they've been like that.

Any chance you know of updated part numbers for those?

Thanks
Joe

Had mine replaced about a year ago (under warranty). My invoice states that they replaced the Excluder Seals and Hub O-rings.

The P/N listed are:
FMC-AC3Z-1S175A (Seals)
FMC-5C3Z-4A322AA (o-rings)

FP-AC3Z1S175A (??)

I don't know which number is for the Seal or which is for the O-ring for sure. I think the first one listed is probably the Seal because it was listed at $21ea, and the other was at $9ea. I don't know what the last number is, maybe a kit? IDK. Maybe someone can chime in and decipher the numbers.

BTW, the new seals look to be much better than factory.

Hi Guys,

I never thought to look over here, I was linked to your post.

Is this the same problem? See my pics here.

2005 F350 4x4 Dust Seal issue

It sure sounds like the same problem. For the life of me I cannot figure out what is suppose to hold the outer seal in place. Is something missing?

Thanks for any help

John
