Diesel Connect

Well, We have a tech who has the first diesel transit connect. He was in a hurry on Saturday and filled the tank slam full of diesel fuel. Welcome to my world. Not to bad so far fixing it. The fuel filler hose goes into the side of the tank instead of the top so draining it wasn't as bad as expected. Still haven't got it running yet but it shouldn't be much longer. Just thought everyone else deserves a laugh.

when i was working on the crappy sprinters, we were good for one filled with gas every week. it sucks when someone puts the wrong fuel in....because you know the tank is FULL when it hits the shop and YOU are the lucky ******* who has to drop and empty it.

stupid (or smart but very distracted) people are proud supporters of local mechanics, and are often repeat customers.

I don't understand what is so bad about putting Diesel fuel in a Diesel van and needing to drain it?

when its a gas engine however, problems arise.

OK, so the Diesel van was not a Diesel, he only assumed it was.

dang - ! Got me all excited about a 30 mpg T/C !

Oh well, that happens at work, we have a one E350 GAS Econoline, and regardless of how many stickers say "GASOLINE ONLY" and regardless of size of the tags, idiots still fill it with diesel.

Believe me, I will bet you that I was wound up alot more than you. But it worked out with no permanent damage. And I made sure to have a heart to heart with the driver and showed him how much it would cost his paycheck if he did it again.

all that aside, we really need an oilburning connect in the states. If the new diesel in the VW wasnt so computerized, I would buy a used connect and a rolled tdi and do a swap...but the electronics won't allow such things.
