Engine Oil Pan

I'm new to the forum and I just bought a 56 F100 with a Mustang II IFS in it. Going to put in a 302....I have a front sump oil pan...looks like it will need a rear sump. I am correct in that? is their an article out there or thread showing the best way to do this. I can make my own mounting brackets, but I see their are some out there that look pretty good. F100 Central has a set....anyone used them? Any help would be much appreciated.

I had this problem with re-mounting my 302 into my 50 F1 with a newly installed MII a few months ago. You won't find a true totally rear sump oil pan for your 302. It will be a dual sump with a small front sump and a larger rear sump (the front sump cannot be totally eliminated due to the oil pump itself). You'll have to get a rear sump pickup conversion kit. As for the motor mounts, I can't speak for the 56. The key is to get one that allows the "point" of the front smaller sump to clear the steering rack. OR you can mount the engine further forward so that the steering rack is in the "saddle" between the front and rear sumps.

Now hold your horses there pardner. Slow down and tell us about yourself and show us some pics of your new ride. Welcome aboard! Post your location in the user control panel also.
