Help with 1963 F500
MUST GO 1963 Ford F-500 1 ton Dually Grain Dump Bed RUNS
Can anyone help me in finding parts for this old beast ? Also, I brought it up in an old thread Grigg started but are the wheels on this F500 the old widow makers ? Can anyone help me figure out what engines, transmissions and rear axles were available these years ? Thanks for any and all help. I tried searching some for F500s with little luck. Im going to look at this truck in person tomorrow after work. I'm very excited as I've always wanted a bigger truck like this to haul my old 49" Alis Chamers to the fair.

1961/64 F500 available engines: 223 I-6 (standard equipment), 262 I-6, 292 2V light duty, 292 4V heavy duty were all optional.
The Eaton two speed rear axle was an option, there were several different ratios available. There were other optional rear axles. If a two-speed, its switch is mounted on the shift lever, has a red ****.
There were several sizes of front/rear drum brakes available. Unless an ID number can be found on the drums, or the GVW is known, the only way to know the sizes...is remove the drums. Not pleasant!
All the drums are obsolete, almost impossible to find NOS (New Old Stock), nearly impossible to find used...in decent condition. The other brake parts can be found NOS, usually NAPA has everything.
The Warranty Plate has the VIN, codes for the COLOR - MODEL - BODY - TRANS - AXLE - DSO stamped on it. The actual wheelbase, GVW, certified net HP & RPM are listed.
Warranty Plate could be located on the inside of the glovebox door, or on the left door face below the latch, but...
Compare the VIN on the Warranty Plate to the VIN on the registration to see if they match. Some peeps replaced damaged left doors with used doors.
99% of the time, they didn't install the original Warranty Plate on the replaced door.

Like i mentioned on the thread i started in the large truck forums, I wasnt able to get out and see the truck today. I spoke with the owner. It has a Y-block under the hood and the axle is a single speed. Will try to get out there this week. I emailed the owner to get the VIN # so I'll report back when I receive it.
