5er and anti-sway control

Brought our new 5th wheel home last week (cougar high-country). This was my first time towing with our new 2012 F250. I loved everything about it except the trailer anti-sway control seemed to be fighting with me, pulled over, turned it off and all felt great after that. Anyone else out there turning this feature off when towing a 5er?

I didn't know we had this on the new trucks....
How do I turn sway control off or on ?

I did find out the "tow/haul" button makes a huge difference.

under control panel under settings Note: this is the trailer sway-control. The bad part is you have to do this each time the key is turned off/on

I have no direct experience with the built-in sway control, but I have seen this problem reported several times on the FTE site and others reported turning theirs off as you did, if I understood their posts correctly.

I personally would think it is counter productive. My understanding is since it is electronic it uses the brakes and de fueling I think to control it.

One of the big advantages of hauling a fiver over a regular trailer is that the fivers don't sway nearly as much. I've hauled a fiver and regular trailer of similiar size with the same truck and the difference was very noticable especially on 2 lanes when passing big trucks going the other way. Many users with feature do turn them off when hauling the fivers.

Thanks !

I have noticed any problems but this is my first 5th wheel and it isn't very big/heavy.... so made I just don't know what I am missing yet.

If it makes as big a difference as the "tow/haul" button, then I am going to see a big difference. Kinda looking forward to trying it out.

Is there any way to have the anti-anti-sway system disabled? ...basically make the pickup forget it even has it?

I think an anti-sway control for a 5er is like putting snow shoes on a polar bear!

My thoughts,

It should be able to be disabled by the dealer via the ecm. Same way traction control and other computer controlled features can be disabled. I would contact the service manager or lead tech at your dealership.
