Midship/Aux gas tanks

Is this a factory midship gas tank for 1975 F350 2wd, Just wondering if all midship fuel tanks are the same, I thought they were more rounded on the ends and had a top and bottom and a seam that stuck out around the middle were they were welded. It is a crew cab so my next question is, are the crew tanks the same as regular cab tanks

Fuel Tank

kingford72,go to LMC Truck and look on page 38 in the 73-79 book, this is the tank that came in my 73. My tank sender unit is sealed with an O-Ring and held in with a twist ring. I have never pulled or seen a mid ship tank out of a crew cab but the one you have appears to be an aftermarket tank, did it have a filler door or a factory opening in the sheet metal or did it fill under the wheel well? Are there any Ford stamped markings in the tank or the sending unit? It might help to know if there are any replacement parts for this tank such as hoses tank straps and sender units. The fins on the Ford tanks make it a hassle to install so maybe yours will be easier. Hope this helps.

I can't see any ford markings on top of the tank, the other 3 sides have so much undercoat you'll never see anything and the truck has a homemade flatbed on it. As soon as I looked at the ends I thought this tank was weird and when I pulled it I thought the same thing with the sender.

A friend of mine gave me a midship tank that looked identical to the crew one until I dropped it. Upon comparison, the filler and vent tubes are in different locations, making it impossible to mount under the crew body.

I haven't seen a stock one yet, but maybe I missed it in the LMC catalog?

Looks totally different from what I have. The saddle tanks also have a shroud that usually rots out due to a bad design and I have not been able to find a replacement anywhere.

New to this forum and ran across your picture. Did you ever figure out the tank model? I have the exact same one on my 1973 f250 crew cab and im trying to locate the sending unit as well as the fuel fillers. But i cant seem to find my fuel tank anywhere. My tank has some letters spray painted on the side that arent legible but the last numbers are 9002-D.

Is this is a mid ship fuel tank (in front of the left rear wheel) or is it an aft axle fuel tank (behind the left rear wheel)?

Is this spray painted like a stencil? 9002 is the Ford basic part number for a fuel tank, D is a possible suffix.

Examples: D3TZ-9002-D .. 20 gallon Aft Axle Fuel Tank without Evaporative Emission // D4TZ-9002-D .. 19 gallon Aft Axle Fuel Tank with Evaporative Emission
