Or is this dealer bull****ing me telling me that is why my truck is running like ****
Can't tell you if that is what is going on with your truck, but trucks go into limp mode i.e. reduced power to protect against damage from things like transmission slippage. I have never had it happen with my 350, but had it happen with my GMC after a transmission fluid change when they failed to cycle the transmission, after putting in new fluid. It is a real term.
I recently bought a99 f250 7.3 and the next day the sea light came on and I had a loss of power. I read the codes and it was low ur ow pressure and glow plug fault bank one. It is blowing alot of white smoke in first gear just before the turbo kicks in. In park it does the same thing and white smoke fills up the whole court. I went back to the dealer and told him he sold me a pile of crap. They said the loss of power was because of the ses light and they were going to keep it to see what all the smoke was from. Any one have any idea what the source for all the smoke is??
Until they read the codes, we can only speculate. A common problem is the UVCH (under valve cover harness) comes loose. It can cause rough idle and throws the SES light. But, until the codes are pulled, it's really hard to say. Post up what they find.
my friend has the same thing going on just with out the oil burning he lost power under a load the ses light was flashing on and off and no power and he was pulling his 38 toy hauler when it was doing that butt with out the trailer it does not do it
Limp mode is a broad term. The transmission can go into a "limp mode" when it has a problem and begins to flash the OD light. It will no longer go through all of the gears and will allow you to drive it off the road, thereby limping.
The engine can also go into a sort of limp mode when the oil temp gets to high. The PCM will regulate the injectors to allow the truck to cool down again, limping off the road.
