Turbo Removal 06 E350 6.0 HTF Did Ford Come Up With This???
Doing my oil cooler delete, pulled my turbo , what a bitch getting it out, does anyone have any tip getting it back in, it looks like almost impossible to get it up over the drain tube, because its jamming against the cowl, I have'nt taken it apart to clean yet but can it go back in in 2 pcs. I see there is a clamp holding it together i the middle, hopefully someone has done one of these and knows a trick !?!?

your going to want to put that beast back in in one piece. On my 03 there is a small spot it kinda rolls out of just to the left of the oil filter housing there is a video floating around on you tube that kinda makes it look easy. 6.0 Liter Ford Powerstroke - High Pressure Oil Pump & Revised STC Fitting Part 1 - YouTube here is a good one

on mine it has the cowl above it, like 2 inches above it, it sucks, actually working from inside the van, it's easier than an F, but when I rolled it like you said to the passenger side, it was good, if it was an F, but then it hits, I had to really drag it accross the cowl, with more force than it should to remove.

Not trying to over simplify but if it came out it should go back in. Just need to find the right combination. When I get to a point like this I usually go take a 1/2 hour break and talk it over with mr. bud light. He's a very intelligent person as long as you don't let him take over the project.

yup theres a trick to it.
trick one....
install turbo without the drain pipe. after turbo is in place roll turbo charger up and slide drain tube in from the front of the engine. still sucks but sucks less
trick 2 remove the left side motor mount and let the pan sit on the k member. this is the easy way to get the turbo in and out... however getting the motor mount out sucks and takes more time.
trick 3
pay someone else.

Oh man, major face-palm on that one. I put the drain pipe in first and then fought with the turbo for a good 3 hours.
