It is a Nikon 990, which is a 2000 era 3Mp camera. Used they are cheap: . I have two much later Nikon DSLR's that won't do some things the 990 will, including macro mode to focus up close and twist so you can see the viewfinder at odd angles. And, since both of those attributes are used frequently in the shop, this is my shop camera.

Yes, they are cheap. But it is a 17 year old camera. However, it has the needed features to be used in a shop. It'll focus really close, so you can get small details. It twists so the lens can be looking one place and the viewfinder pointing another, which lets you take pictures you otherwise couldn't.
But, it runs on AA batteries and eats them. I've tried NiCad, standard alkaline, and am now using lithium. They last far longer, but are costly. And it requires a small compact flash card.
For the price its a good buy. But there may be a better camera that has later tech and doesn't eat batteries. I just had the 990 and it has worked well.

Excellent! Have you noticed that in addition to the locals and regular irregulars, like Chris and David, we are expecting Bill/NumberDummy from CA and Jonathan/Ford F834 from AZ this year? And next year Ken from New Zealand and Oz Econoline from Australia have said they plan to be here!

Actually, I thought Chris had a very reasonable request. Fasteners usually come in pairs, and I was only showing one side of the equation. So, it was my fault in disregarding the other side.
However, on reflection, it could be that Chris mis-typed and really intended it to say "you're nuts". And that makes perfect sense because powdercoating every last nut and bolt is certainly "beyond the pale". Aka "nuts". And, once again it is my fault. (Man, it is just like being home - everything is my fault.)
