Alarm won't engage, any advice?
Everything I've seen in the forum refers to alarms activating and how to turn them off, my problem is the opposite. Last year I performed a simple injector cup procedure on my 2000 7.3 Excursion which took about 3 months, during which time I had my batteries removed. When I finally buttoned everything back up I noticed that my alarm does the "chirp", but that I can leave a window rolled down and open any door without it going off. Any ideas on how to get this to reset? I can hit the panic button and get the alarm, but as a security feature it's not working. Thanks everyone!

I believe it is a factory and that I am just thinking I remember something which I thought I knew at one time. Thanks for the input though, I'm gonna take a look and see if there's some kind of button or switch that I knocked, but like you said, these trucks don't have "alarms". Weird as that is...

No alarm, stock. The horn beeps when you lock twice with remote.
You can open doors with key, keypad, reaching in open/broken window, or from inside- no alarm goes off.
I don't remember when the PATS was first intoduced in the excursion, so you might have an aftermarket alarm, if you don't have PATS..

too high of expectations
The factory security doesn't have any motion detection to it and it doesn't care if locks are manually activated. I believe it is all an ignition based system. The door locks are just A keyless entry. The chirping is just an setting that got reset with the battery unhooked.
