GVWR vs. MPG vs. RAGR
I am wondering for those that have a 6.2 powered Superduty what is your MPG?
I ask you to also tell me what is your GVWR?
What is the Rear Axle Gear Ratio?
According to Ford if the GVWR is under 10,000 lbs the Horsepower is 385@5500RPM and Torque is 405@4500RPM.
While the GVWR'd vehicles over 10,000 lbs is Horsepower 316 @4179RPM and Torque 397@4179RPM.
I'm curious if there is a MPG difference between the different power ratings?
I ask you to also tell me what is your GVWR?

My 06 sits about 7000 as well, and has 4:11 gears and gets 12.5 all the time. I stay under 2000 rpms on the freeway. Thats roughly 70mph..
I have steel rims and stock BFG's with nitrogen. at 70 psi.
When I tow may race trailer I get 10.5 and 12 flat towing my airstream.
I have a 5.4 with torqueshift trans. I have no mods other then Ford Motorsport tune from the dealer.
I just through out my.02 for comparrisons purpose

I have a 2012 F350 Reg Cab 4x4 with 3.73 gears and getting 12mpg around town. I don't use the highway much but I do wonder what my MPG's would be. Usually I cruise at 40mph and in 6th gear thats about 1,000-1,250rpm's.
Although I wish I was getting a few more MPG's I understand why I'm getting why I'm getting. One thing to mention, mpg's didn't change when I was carrying my plow or towing my 6x10 enclosed landscaping trailer with a Walker mower and plenty of tools.
For what it is, I think the thing is pretty sweet.
(Even if I have snake eye in my brand new paint)

My numbers:
MPG's - 10mpg city/~14hwy (rarely on the hwy though)
GVWR - 11,200

I have the 10k GVWR (ordered it that way because of annual registration and inspection costs in this lovely state that I live in)
3.73 and I'm getting about 16 highway (70 mph) and 12 city.
There is a definite improvement in MPG's over my 5.4, which surprises me especially since the engine is breaking in.

When I looked up the specs it said the motor had 385 HP and 405 ft/lb of torque.
No where did I se it was lower because of the 10,000 GVWR option.
How can I determine what the HP and torque is for my truck?
Without having it put on a dyno.
I just found this.

What is the point of less hp and torque on a truck with a higher GVWR?
Can the motor be tuned to get to 385/405 or more?

I wouldn't run E85 through anything even if it was half the cost of gasoline, it makes good starter fluid for a campfire.

To SNELLDOG & anyone else in the lovely state of Ma.
I had no idea that I was going to have to register my plates every year at a cost of $20 per thousand lbs. Now heres my problem with the system. I just bought a 2012 F350 reg cab.
My plates from my trade in were good untill 2012, the new commercial plates I just got in the middle of December 2011 need to be renewed at the end of the month.
I'll have paid for three sets of plates in under a year, my new commercial plates...$240 a wack and I only have a reg cab but have to register it at 12,000lbs because of the 11,300lb tag on the door. Man did I really screw myself on this one!!!!!
If I had known better I would have gone with a F250 like SNELLDOG and I could have avoided this and having to abide by our lovely DOT laws. Fire extinguisher, Reflective Orange Triangle and wheel chucks are manditory at all times with yearly inspections, oh and plate renewal fees...
I feel like an 18wheeler driver with all the hoops I have to jump through.
Still love the truck!

I have a 2012 F250 Superduty 4x4 Lariat, with the 6.2 liter gas engine, it also has the 10,000 GVWR (Not sure what that does to help me) it has the 3.73 electric locking rear end.

Read the thread in its entirety, same hp/tq between the trucks but taken at different rpms (epa)...
