96' F-250 CC inop
Ok so the Cruise on my 96' 7.5L automatic F-250 does not work. I get to highway speed, hit the CC on button, then the set button and nothing. Trying to find out if mine is OBD 2 so I can just hook my tester up to it, if its OBD 1 then I need to learn how to test that manually. Anyway, anyone know how to test the module and what not? On my 89' F-250 the previous owner had simply disconnected the cable at some point, so I reconnected it and it worked fine, no such luck this time.

A faulty cruise control module or issues in that circuit will not trigger an error code regardless if the truck is OBD-I or II. Assuming your questions about what type of engine control was directed at the cruise issue.
Start with the simple things. Check the fuses.
There was a recall to modify the cruise control circuit. There should be an inline fuse connector leading to the pressure sensor located on the master cylinder. If there is no harness, that means the recall was not performed. Remove the wire from the sensor and take the truck directly to the dealer. They need to install the updated wiring harness to prevent the truck from catching on fire.
