Thanks guys! Been having fun driving it, but it gets lousy gas mileage....likely due to the weight and (lack of) aerodynamics. Think barn door in the wind, LOL.

been checking in on the progress periodically from the beginning. great fab work, great job. love the COEs. just saw the flatbed, like the look of the rough cut wood, perfect. what a neat vehicle.

another thread back from the dead

Since we have full blown winter here, my truck is parked in my shop. Looking at it, I decided to figure out a way to dress up the wheels a bit. A friend offered me some of those chrome dually "simulators" like used on motor homes, etc.....but they don't really fit the theme of the truck.

Some simple center caps to just "finish" it was what I wanted.

I had some rear axle caps from a '30's Ford big truck, but they won't mount directly as the one ton axles are smaller than the older trucks. Some redneck engineering was needed........

I made a "hat" out of sheet metal that slips over the axle hub. This is held on with a large hose clamp. The cap attaches to this. The whole assembly is easily removed to change a tire, etc.

Nice addition.

Now that you've had the truck on the road for a while what are your thoughts? Does the Ranger overdrive work well for you? Does it help the fuel bill?

The Ranger is working fine so far. About 2300 rpm at 65 mph. Fuel mileage is subjective.......it's a pretty heavy truck with a large frontal area. I wasn't expecting great mileage.

FUN factor is over the top! It rides decent and drives easy with PS and PB.
Still have some fine tuning to do........

Rite on Scott, The average mind could never come up with an idea like that. Very ingenious.

So for the front I had to go a little different direction......the early truck front caps are too big to go inside the lugnut circle.

So I got some Model A caps, which are smaller, but how to mount them?

I ended up making s spacer and welding it to the wheel retainer ring thingy. Kind of a big flat washer

Once again Scott, I am impressed with your ingenuity.

Very nicely done and really finishes off the truck well
