I think I get what you are saying.....instead of removing each side, have a front/rear piece?
I put the seats in and with the gas pedal etc, it won't come out the drivers side as is....however both pieces will come out the pass side. I think.
Fitting and scheming continues.....

Yes that's it and the forward piece can be under the dash slightly to hide the seem. Of course we know you will do a great job on it. I really like that rounded look. We are all waiting to see your creation.

Scott, just back from my 2 yr project away from home. That doghouse reminds me of an old Honda 750 four gas tank! I like it!

Well, I got the left half of the cover fitted, tacked together and secured......it wasn't too big of a deal.
The right side needs to curve out to clear the carb and air cleaner, so a bit more challenging. I had pie cut it to mock it up, but still wasn't quite right, so i had to cut it in half....more bending and tacking. I think I got the basic shape now, just need to fill in the gaps and finish weld everything.

Lots of welding done, and more to go.
Starting to take shape......but this isn't gonna be perfect ever. Functional with style....

I took a break from welding and bent up my upper fuel line. Also built a throttle pedal and installed the cable to the carb. Bout ready to run!

Ironic, that has been suggested by almost everyone who has come into my shop. I'm still thinking about it....

Jimmy, thanks for the kind words....but I'm just winging it! Nothing special.
Actually, after 30 years, I find bodywork to be quite tedious....it's now a conditioned reflex. Fabricating and problem solving is much more interesting.

I vote for no cup holders (I recognize I don't accentually get a vote, but I'll still throw out an unsolicited opinion...). I think cup holders look out of place in an old truck. I like the simple sheet metal cover with no frills.

All opinions are welcome.....

I wouldn't mind a cup holder, but not in the cover. Maybe one between the seats...

I say install the cup holder then hide it under an ashtray lid. All these old trucks had an ashtray anyways so it will look like it belongs. Besides, dont you need to hide some outlets for usb ports, phone chargers, gps plug ins and all them gadgets????? C'mon you know you want to install it all.
