I have a 2011 Edge SEL with the Microsoft Sync system. I bought the car new a year ago and have 15,000 miles and drive it daily. It is a fun car to drive and very comfortable. The only hangup I have is trouble with the sync system. I have had it in to the dealer once to have it "reprogrammed" that took over 4 hours. Prior to the repair it got really weird with not being able to change temperatures or tune the radio, or the clock would go haywire. The service trip but it back to normal, but it appears to be going haywire again.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar, or did I get the microsoft lemon?

Ford dropped the ball when they released the Myford touch system. It's no surprise your having these problems as they are very common. So common that Ford is currently beta testing a revamped Myford touch software version that will almost double the speed, simplify the system, and eliminate the too many problems customers have been complaining about. The release date for this new version is not specific but is scheduled for release as free upgrade to existing customers sometime in the first quarter of '12.
My advice is to hand tight and get this free upgrade when it becomes available.
Yeah, had the same problem with the wifes. It kept shutting down, freezing up, etc.... Ford reprogramed it and it has been fine. There is a flashdrive being sent to all MyTouch owners around the end of March as Troy stated. Rumor has it Ford and Microsoft got into a heated battle over the flaws in microsoft's system and microsoft walked away. They have supposedly patched things up and the new programs are being tested in some Ford reps vehicles.
Does anyone know how to reset the Sync system? Our 2011 Explorer has totally locked up and the radio, map and everything has quit working. Can't get into the dealer until Monday. I tried removing the negative cable and it made the situation worse. It is locked up doing a system check. When I reset the system it started the system check and then hung up at the same location of the system check. Any help would be appreciated.
its just a microsoft problem. Did you try pressing CONTROL-ALT-DELETE ?
