2003 Expedition/What a Waste of$
I Am Really hating MY FORD 2003 Expedition
Its Really Been a Expedition Alright!
An Expedition of What Is Casing It To Stall and Have No Throttle Response!
Very Dangerous
1.) Changed Out Fuel Pump Twice (On a Second New Fuel Pump)
2.)Local Mechanic & Ford Dealer have Looked At It Cant Figure it Out?
3.) Changed Out Throttle Position Sensor (No Luck)
4.)Wont Throw a Code To Tell What's Up?
5.) Will Go a Month Without Doing it and Pick a Day To Stall!
6.)Changed Out Fuel Pump Relay at Fuse Panel W/No Luck
Sorry, But Really Not Liking FORD Right Now after Close to $1500 Out Of My Pocket,I Will Not Buy a New Ford Ever and Going To Stick With My 77 SuperCab, At Least I Can Fix IT!!!!!!

John Can You tell Me What The IAC Is? And Were Would It Be On The Vehicle?

Thank You Very Much For Your Time!
Allen
You Know I Had a 2001 Super Crew and I Wish I Still Had It, It Had Such a More Solid Feel Over The Expedition And Way More Comfortable. My Wife Drive's The
Expedition and I am Scared To Death For Her to Pull Out In Front Of Someone
And Have It Stall On Her ( It Already Did It To Me)Not FUN!
It Just BUM'S Me Out That Vehicle's With all The Electronics That They Have are
Only Good For about 10Yrs And Then you Are In For Trouble With The Electrical
System Like I am Having Now Just a Throw Away Society!
Sorry To Vent! They Just Don't Make Anything To Last Any More
Ill Try Any Thing At This Point

[quote=Omahastro1;11153743]I am sure you have looked at the fuel filter changing it. The other thing that comes to mind are the catalytic converters. Could the insides be loose and blocking the exaust at times.???[/quote
I Changed Out Fuel Filter A Month or Two Just Before The Fuel Pump But Thinking
Of Changing it out again as Process of Elimination.
Converters on the other hand is New to the List!!? Have Not Thought of them!
Thank You For Your Input!

PS It Has about 140K on Odometer FWIW.

Do you also see no throttle response just before it stalls?
When it stalls, is the engine fully warmed up?
Are you decellerating as it stalls?
Or are you just sitting still at a light and it just ups and stalls?
Or does it stall when you jump on the throttle relatively hard?
Is the transmission in gear when it stalls?
Is the AC on when it stalls?
Is the fuel tank below a 1/4 tank when it stalls?
Is it difficult to restart it after a stall?
Which engine?
How many miles?
Any recent service?
Has the MAF ever been cleaned?
Any other issues that might be related?

Also, how old are your plugs? Air filter clean? If you recently did the fuel filter, don't waste your time doing it again unless you drive in real dusty conditions.

I'm not a mechanic, but I'll share this story. The symptoms we very much like you described in your post. About 4 years ago, my step-daughter's 1998 Toyota Rav-4 would stall at stop lights very regularly to the point where it seemed like the engine had completely died, and all of the sudden, come back to life and run, without her doing anything! This also happened at highway speeds a few times, but not like at stop lights.
Anyway, the engine would NEVER throw an error code. NEVER. One day, my father-in-law, who had plenty of spare time, drove the car up and down the street by the Toyota dealership with a mechanic riding shotgun, until it acted up and stalled. My father-in-law left the vehicle in this suspended state of malfunction, he did not put it in Park, turn the key or ANYTHING. A Toyota mechanic hooked up a diagnostic reader and it FINALLY threw a code! Only in this suspended state of malfunction did the engine throw an error code to the reader. The code was a bad upstream O2 sensor. So, I supposed the fuel/air mixture was too much fuel that was not getting burned off and the engine was flooding itself and stalling until the excess fuel was processed and the engine would 'come back to life.'
The O2 sensor was replaced an the vehicle has run flawlessly, ever since that happened, going on 4 years now.

Had a similer problem with a 94 Ranger. Would not start, only happen about once a week. Dealer said it was the fuel pump, replaced it, didn't fix it. then changed the fuel pump realy, didn't fix it. what I found is that when it wouldn't start I would change the fuel pump realy with another one and it would work for a wile. The problem was a loose connection going to the relay. You can check to see that relay socket
connections are making good connection to the relay.
connections are making good connection to the relay.

It seems to me, that some of the mecanics in the US are the same type as in Switzerland/EU.
They SAY, that they are mecanics....but they can only change things but not fix the problems really.
To fix some problems it's nesesarly to think logical and evaluate.
But most of them cannot....
