You think that's bad, how about this?
December 7, 1991, I attended the 50th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack held at the USS Arizona Memorial.
While walking thru the parking lot towards the entrance, I noticed a Toyota Camry that had Pearl Harbor Survivor license plate frames on it.

A person doesn't need to be alive back then to have been effected by the attack... I lost an uncle, my fathers older brother, in that attack. My Father fought in many Battle in the war Lehte, Saipan, and Tinian.. My father was a very proud man, but also a humble forgiving man, as was my grandfather who as an Operations Manager for Bethlehem Steel built and repaired many naval ships, in Long Beach harbor... Both of them were gracious enough to embrace, my sister's In Laws, and husband who were all Japanese... They did not hold a grudge in a childish petty manner as some choose to do. They forgave the loss of their Family members and moved on with their lives... and yes both of them could read back then... My father lied about his age to enlist...
I would honestly say that a Pearl Harbor Survivor that proudly posted a memorial of sorts on his Japanese car was way more man than any of us... because he was able to forgive, and move on with his life, as a very strong Christian..... To be peeved about something that we, or you were not involved in.... well it is none of our business.. it was their Business, and they Handled their business and moved on with their lives.... My dad when asked about his battles, and the killing said.. there were no hero's there were just men doing their jobs the best they knew how... the Heros, were the ones who didn't come home!
I was very fortunate yesterday.. my best friend from childhood, and still my best friend, is Lt Col. Daniel O'Connell, commander of Intelligence in Kabul... he sent me a lovely gift, for my family , it is a flag that he had flown over the US command center in Jalalabad on Sept 11, 2011, he sent it with a certificate from the US Army, and a letter explaining the importance... which we all know the significance of that date.... Danny has lost a great many friends and troops under his command, and his marriage too, because of the events of 9-11-2001... but he holds no ill will or malice, towards his enemy.... I am proud to have him as a friend, and will always be proud of his friendship...... if he does not hate his enemy.. how dare any of us do so!

You are reffering to Pearl harbor, and insinuate that you were 11 months old and unable to read about it... Well the Pearl harbor attack was Dec. 7th 1941, and then you state.. "VJ-Day: August 15,1945, surrender documents signed on the USS Missouri September 2, 1945, seven days shy of my first birthday.[/quote]" well Bill that is 3 1/2 years later that you were almost 1 year old??????? You better work on your math skills.. unless you were born on leap day in a leap year? Or are you from another planet and age differently then the rest of us?
