What do I need to do to keep my man step?

Well??
Is there something that can be done to keep the tailgate from being stolen except for just locking the lock on it?

You could get one of these:

Amazon.com: McGard 76029 Tailgate Lock: Automotive

Amazon.com: Bully LH090 Tailgate Security Lock: Automotive

Or a cheaper alternative would be to use a hose clamp.

You could put a hose clamp on the hinge. The one that is cutout to remove the tailgate.

You used to be able to put a hinge from the left side on the right side . Is that still possible also?

I was hoping (I'm sure others too) that they would start tying in the tailgate lock with the door locks. I guess not yet......

Some folks have done this on their own though.

Check out this. Here they talk about putting a actuator on the tailgate and tie it into the rear door lock. I looked around here by me and found a place that would put it in for about $60. Maybe you can find something like this around you. I went to a truck accessory shop that does this sort of thing.

According to a note posted in RED at the JC Whitney Website, this does not work with a 2011 Ford F250...

Hey, i'm just saying. It's a great idea needing a solution...

I used the Bully as well. I learned the hard way when my locked tailgate was stolen off of my '11 at a mall in NJ. It was over $4,000 for my insurance company to replace it.
