99 F450 ABS light on, but no issues

I have a 99 F450. I have an ABS light on. No codes (at least not that my code reader can pickup), but I am also not having any issues. Brakes work fine. Any ideas what to swap out or where to look?
Thanks!!

Alot of the hand held code readers won't read the error codes for our trucks.
However, could just be something in the tone ring for your ABS causing it to trigger the warning light. Or could be a relay...or...
Start with the easy stuff. Pull each wheel and check to make sure you don't have any debri around the sensor for the tone ring.

Now that I think about it.... Is your OD light flashing? Could just be the VSS in the rear diff. Cheap and easy to replace.

Well now that you mention it

My O/D light doesn't come on at all. As a matter of fact, when I hit the O/D button, nothing happens. It still goes into overdrive. Ok, now to to make it even clearer (or cloudy), its a F450 Chassis with a V10 and it's a motor home.

I would still check for debri around the tone ring for the ABS sensors.

Will do. Now I have to figure out why my O/D drive doesn't work. The coach only has 17K miles on it.
Thanks!!

First thing to do is determine if you have ABS on the front wheels or not. Four wheel ABS was an option in 99 so you might only have the rear sensor (on the diff). If so, then you can try cleaning the sensor and see if that helps. Sometimes they collect metal filings that stick to the magnet and it skews the readings. Most times it's best just to replace that sensor because they are fairly inexpensive. (about $30)

If you have front wheel ABS, then you might try and find someone with a good scanner that can access the ABS module and see which sensor is faulty. AutoEnginuity can do this
Riffraff Diesel: AutoEnginuity Total Ford Enhanced Bundle

If you have 2WD, then the sensors are reasonably priced. The 4WD sensors are astronomical so if you have 4WD then you really want to use a scanner to figure out which one is bad before you start throwing parts at the problem because it can get real expensive real fast.

One thing that will trigger the ABS light is the master cylinder reservoir being low.

Does the speedo work OK?

Wanted to take this opportunity to Thank all Ford-Trucks.com members who provided inputs to this Post PLUS all other members for participation - This is without Doubt BEST Ford Web blogs on WEB in my humble viewpoint with lots of members providing inputs / suggestions / feedback:
-My Notes / Solution to F450 ABS Light ON
2001 F450 7.3L Auto - 225K Miles
1A. In my case when depressing the Brake Pedal ( Moving or Stopped ) a pulsating effect was felt on foot - Similar to an Emergency Stop activity ABS system takes over - So keep that in mind as well as the other items listed in prior Posts
1. Read Haynes Manual for clues
2.Conduct various Google searches
3. Best Post was this one
4. Removed the REAR center Top Differential Sensor looking for metal shavings
YES after removal noticed some on magnet - Cleaned and re-installed
5. NOTE: Even after disconnecting BOTH batteries for 10 Minutes, then reconnecting and starting Vehicle ABS still ON --- Thought maybe the Vehicle has to be Test driven for Sensor / Etc to Clear --- Sure enough after driving less than 1/4 mile ABS light went OFF --- YES success
6. What a relief due to fact I surely didn't desire to tear down the Front Calipers, rotors to finally get to the Front ABS Sensors for analysis / or replacement the F450 Rotors are Big Time Bolted onto Front Axle
7. SUMMARY:
a. Prior to ABS Light coming on had an Alternator Failure
b. Replaced with a Lifetime Alternator decided to stay with Local Retailer on this item if ever fails easy to drop off and get replacement = AdvanceAuto
c. F450 was hard starting if cold so figured while F450 is OOC replace ALL Glow plugs -- read numerous other Ford-Truck Posts and definitely purchased the Motorcraft Glow Plugs = RockAuto.com for best pricing & Delivery
d. Also replaced Glow Plug Relay to be on safe side
e. TWO Interstate Batteries
f. DONE to date with F450 fixes -- Continue Maintain Oil & Filters etc
Lets DRIVE F450 again generate some revenue and get to Jobsite
