I have access to two 6.0 Powerstoke engines, that are both not running.
They both have had head gasket issues from what he's telling me.
My question is : what parts should I go after before brother in law takes these trucks to dismantlers. I have taken off both cats and altenators and plan on getting FICM as well as glo plug controllers.
The 05 truck looks to have a newer turbo on it. I have a 2006 6.0 with 65k on it and have had no problems whatsoever but I'm thinkin I should grab future parts while the grabbin is good. Any suggestions.

 

I would probably grab one if not both sets of heads. Have them checked and decked if needed and if you ever have a prob on your motor you've got a fresh set to go in (with ARP studs). If the price is right you could probably make a small profit off selling one of the sets of heads considering new ones go for like 1500 i believe.

 

If I had that opportunity there would be a big gaping hole under the hood...

He told me have at em,he has a pressure wash company with I'm guessin has around 20 gas F-250 trucks. He bought another company out and it came with these diesel trucks.
He wants to get rid of them, he said the wreckers will give him around $500.00 for the pair. Its a get what I want, before they get hauled off situation.lol

$500?? I would give him $1,000 for both trucks complete the way they sit. are the motors no good, or just not sure whats wrong with them?

Grab the trannies and third members too. For free, send the dismantlers the shells. You might also grab a spare dash display. If you have the room give him the 500 and keep everything.

 

he said they overheated and blew head gaskets. His mechanic tried to fix one and couldnt get it to run. as for the other I dont think he did anything to it. He thinks it overheated from a blown head gasket, but I think he's guessin.

 

His thing is: he wants them out of his yard. I dont have the room to throw a couple of broken down trucks. I'm thinking electronics,cup holders LOL. A freind of mine went to ford to buy a cup holder and said they wanted $180.00 for it.??? He picked one up at wrecker for $60.00 and that sounds rediculas................ By the way they are both 2 wheel drive.

Yikes, I am gonna get some parts too.lol right? lol . I want to get some stuff off of them just for possible future problems. I can take some pics of both trucks and put them on website to let you see what is there. Like I said I have already taken both cats, and both altenators.as well as egr valves. I am intersted in ficm/glow controls and electronic stuff. I know the front clip was taken off one of them other day for another trk.
