Help needed (sigh) again

Anyone in my area that can help me shim the carrier bearing? I live in pasadena, Md and am getting a LOT of driveline vibration on take-off.

drive line has to be 30*. You may have to shim the axel on the springs. I'm guessing you need to hook up with me at some point this weekend, so I can see what you have going on

Something isn't right because the vibration happens from take-off to approx 15mph only. Also at beltway speed I get some "bouncing" which from all the reading I've been doing is indicative of the carrier bearing being off.

I'm off this weekend...... let me know what works best for you. I'm off today too.... LOL.

Oops.... my fault.

I didn't drop the truck yet. My friend decided not to trade since we both thought I had a 4" lift ... turns out this is an 8" lift. I could probably live with the 4" lift.

Yeppers. When I looed at the driveshaft I'm still struggling to understand if it needs to go up or down. I can't afford to take the lift off as I have nothing to replace it with. Who knows, maybe someone else from this site will want a truck this high and trade me for a 2-4" lift?

The angle from the tranny to the rear end is too steep..... the drive angle needs to be lower in the front so the angle is less between the two.
The differential is way lower than the tranny.

I understand but don't know how to make it that way. I'm hoping fixing this will help with the vibration and the "bouncing" I'm getting around 50mph. I feel like I'm in a rodeo driving down the beltway

You will probably have to go to A1 driveshafts and have a 1 piece drive shaft made. That's what I did for my Blazer years ago

Thumbs up

No shimming needed. had truck aligned today (toe was out). good news is all the u-joints are good and bad news is the carrier bearing is COMPLETELY shot. Glad that we figured out the issue though. They didn't have the bearing in stock and gonna go back some time next week. The bearing is so bad it's actually resting against the driveshaft hence why I have the VIBRATION.

So........ thanks everyone for all your help. Hopefully after new carrier bearing I'll post up and let you know I'm loving the truck and it's all vibration free.

Oh and by the way, I went ahead and upgraded the stock cloth 2000 seats with '05 leather / power seats I scored. Boy what a DIFFERENCE! I love these new seats!

Out with the old:

In with the new:

All in all the install took me about 3.5 hours yesterday. Was a nice day out and enjoyed mod'ing my new (new to me) truck.

If I get the vibration settled I'll just leave the lift on there. I like the look and I don't think I'll struggle too much towing 8k trailer. We'll see.

Cheers,
Tim

Definitely will. I suspect it's because the angle is all jacked up. I'll fix all of it. Can't wait to drive a vibration free truck
