Did you ever find out who built the rack? I have an Ex not quite that big that we take to a dunes area near Lake Michigan and that would be the perfect set up on holiday weekend when the beach is full to just park next to the beach and lay out on top.

Do you have any pictures of the rack all togehter with lights on it. I just finished mine basically like yours. I need to make mounts for bolting to roof fhen it will be finished. I hope you don't mind I went with your design, since I really like how you made it.

how much wind noise do you get? just with my yakima bars on I get a nasty whistling above 55 or 60. Its really annoying. I can lessen it by moving the bars back but I can't seem to get rid of it completely.
A trick i used on my whistling Yakima's.....spiral some wire across the length of the bars....just like most radio antennae's have. Doing this breaks up the airflow pattern around the bar making it much quieter. Also, make sure the end caps area all there yet.
