What year? If it's a '92-up then you remove the two black/silverish trim pieces from either side of the wheel, then take the screws out. you gotta take the know off the headlight switch, then you can carefully try to pop the dash piece off. Then you can unhook the electrical connector on the fuel switch and the whole thing pulls off. Taking the plastic off the column makes this easier, but isn't necessary.

If it's like the 95, you need to pull **gently** or you'll break the little pins that the clips screw onto. I've also broken the screw "holes" in the plastic that the switch mounts to by pulling it too far too fast, so when you're looking for that electrical connector to disconnect do that gently too. The plastic in these things is brittle, especially if you live in a hot state.
