Champion vs. OEM plugs

Couldnt find a post about this so I'm starting one. Sorry if its been beat to death somewhere else.
I recently came across a website saying the Champions were a better alternative to the OEM spark plugs because they dont have the potential to leave the sleeve in the head... while I dont believe that completely they are a cheaper alternative. Does anyone have any experience using these?
I'm also assuming that my '08 which was built early '07 still has the problem. I only have 28k KM's on it but thought better safe than sorry and AI'm unrealistically hoping that my fuel mileage might climb up from 8MPG...lol

Thanx folks!

One other question, is there a colder runing plug that anyone knows of. Judging by the carbon on my plugs I would think the daily short trips arent getting them hot enough...

Thanx again!

I've heard the same thing about the Champions, but I do believe Ford/Motorcraft came out with a one-piece design and installed them in the 2008's. Maybe not the entire model year, I'm not sure.

I pulled one out and it looks to be the same design as my '04 5.4 plugs so I believe it was the later '08's they changed them in.

In the later part of the 2008 MY the plug design was changed.

New top, Old bottom. JL could fill you in the best plugs to use.

Check RockAuto.com, they have the OEM plugs for cheap! I just got mine, the new style, in today and I ordered them on Monday.

I buy my Motorcraft plugs from Rock Auto also. They have a 5% discount code down in the vendors section.

I currently have a couple thousand miles on the Champion plugs on my 2005. No problems to report so far. Nice piece of mind to know that they should all come out in one piece the next time I replace plugs.

So, which are the best plugs to use? I want a one-piece plug, not something that will fall apart. Thanks. PS: This is for a 2006.

I did a ton of research on this only to find out both my trucks have the new style heads. However, what I learned is the change is engine production date of around 10/09/07 (look for the sticker on drivers side valve cover) the plug boots that are under the COPs and go into the head are dark brown instead of black. Prior to learning this, the “game plan” I came up with for living with the two piece plugs included always burning Cheveron ( or any top tier) high test, running sea foam in the gas once a month, making the first plug change at 30,000 and subsequently changing the plugs every 40,000 (because of putting the anti seize on the long sleeve). As far as one piece replacement plugs, there is an additional option of the Brisk racing plug. http://www.briskracing.com/content/tech_spec.php Their plugs come in a variety of heat ranges to allow for superchargers, turbos and such on the other modular engines. They will fit the v10 as well. Their web site doesn’t seem to be working very well right now, I don’t know why that is. That’s about all I know. Good luck.
