91 f150 starts with 95 taurus ecm WHY!!!
WORKING ON 91 F150 5.0 WITH E40D 4X4 THAT WONT START SET IN A PASTURE FOR 2 YEARS HAD TO PUT USED ENGINE OUT OF 92 F150 CAN NOT GET IT TO START WITH CORRECT ECM BUT IT WILL START AND RUN WITH A ECM OUT OF A 95 TAURUS,WONT SHIFT PROPERLY AND 4X4 LIGHT IS ON SCARED TO DRIVE IT WITH TAURUS COMPUTER IN IT. I HAVE CHECKED ALL POWER AND GROUNDS GOING TO ECM , I HAVE COMPARED WIRING DIAGRAMS TILL I WENT CROSS EYED.
HAVE TRIED ABOUT 5 DIFFERANT ECMS FROM PARTS STORE. SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THIS TRUCK
REPLACED DISTRIBUTOR WITH NEW ONE FOR F150
REPAIRED 5 WIRES THAT HAD BEEN CHEWED ON BY RODENT, BUT CANT FIND ANY MORE BAD ONES
REUSED ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS
ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED I AM PULLING MY HAIR OUT
F150 ECM #F1TF-12A650-TA
TAURUS ECM #F5DF-12A650-FA

Welcome to FTE.
The reason you haven't got much of a response is that:
1 - no one is going to be able to tell you why a Taurus computer runs a truck motor.
2 - When you use all caps, it looks like you're SHOUTING AT PEOPLE!!!!!
3 - you didn't describe your problem very well.
Why did you replace the computer in the first place? Why did you replace the distributor? What was wrong with the old motor? Tell us about the replacement engine - where did you get it, how many miles, etc. Was is EFI when you got it or did it have a carb intake on it? How did you set the timing?
Once you have everything hooked up, it's just a matter of troubleshooting. Are the fuel pumps running? Are the injectors firing? Are the plugs getting spark?
Engines need air, fuel and spark to run. You just have to figure out which one you're missing.

The problem is it wont run unless you pump the throttle pedal as fast as you can but runs like crap like there is not enough fuel pressure, then it will die as soon as you let off the throttle
If you spray it with carb cleaner it will run and idle, like low fuel pressure
It has injector pulse with a noid light, fuel pressure is at 40 psi, spark will fire hei spark tester, and compression is running around 120psi
The original motor was knocking, the used motor came out of a 92 f150 not sure on mileage, both engines were factory EFI
Had a taurus ecm so just tried it when we couldnt get it to run right, and to are amazment it starts right up and runs fine.
The distributor was replaced because part store said a 91 and 92 were differant parts so just got a new one, timing was set with a timing light
Cant figure out what taurus ecm is suppling that f150 is not
Tell me what i need to check and i will !
