I vote pull the tank and check the foot on the pickup, and clean the contacts on the fuel level swing arm. They hang loose down in the bottom of the gasser tanks right? Maybe it got shifted.

Greetings, reading all these posts brings up a question, How much of the fuel is usable?

'14 SD CC 250 gasser

Glad to see this topic. I recently traded a 1/2 ton Lariat Limited with the 6.2 for my SD 250 6.2. I was accustom to the 35 gallon tank and failed to verify tank size on the SD. Dealer can't accurately tell me tank size. All gauges and information related to MTE, gallons consumed and the fact that I have filled 27.5 gallons twice with gauge reading 1/8+ fuel remaining. I am assuming I have the 35 gallon tank. Any help would be appreciated.

That is exactly the right question. I don't know if there is a low area to collect any sludge or gunk. I wonder how low the inlet goes.

I've refueled with MTE in single digits and never put more than 31.5 gallons in the 35 gallon tank. ('11 xl w/ 6.2)

Ok then, has anyone actually run to empty? I mean until the truck stalls. I'm curious as my 2012 Transit van has a built in to the PCM misfire which kicks in at around 8/9 mte. It will also cut the motor before it runs out of diesel completely.
Do our trucks have anything like this?
If run out of fuel, do they start right up after putting some more fuel in the tank?
