if it burns oil, then oil is entering the combustion chamber. this would logically mean that contaminants are more easily entering the oil than with an engine that is not burning oil.

I think you can figure it out from here.

If your dad's truck is burning oil via the combustion chamber, that means fuel contamination is getting into the oil.

If you want definitive proof, send an oil sample to get tested. Google Blackstone Labs.

Change the oil...lol

I had my father tell me to put 10w40 oil in my truck. He said it didn't matter. But that is very old thinking.
A modular motor is a lot different then the old push-rod motors!

I have owned 4.6L engines in lincolns that burned 1 qt every 300 miles and they still need the oil changed. There is NO truth to this whatsoever. The 4.6/5.4/6.8 can use oil thru the valve stem seals. This in no way effects the engines durability or classifies them as "junk". It is a simple problem and a simple fix (if the engine is out).

A 4.6L can still make it to 300k no problem if maintained correctly. I have one with 182k and it runs like new with no oil burning in 3k mile intervals.
