Issue when starting, right before turning over it makes a loud screech

Issues starting 59 f100 390 - YouTube a link to the video. it is a 390 in a 59. replaced the starter and the flexplate about 4 months ago, replace the alt about 2 months ago. any ideas as to why it is making that noise right before it turns over?

It just randomly started doing this today, about ever 5th or 6th start. Idk what casued it, it sounds almost as if the stater isnt disengageing at the right moment becasue it only dose it if it starts up?

Yeah, I would pull the starter out and have a look see before you start it too many more times. You don't want to damage the ring gear.

So, have you had time to work on it? If so, what did you find?

Sounds like the starter drive is going out to far and hitting the flywheel Just my thoughts Mark
