V8 5.4 Triton Spark Plug Broke off

I know the high thread spark plugs for the 5.4's are know for breaking off and I watched Autolite's video on how to cautiously change the spark plugs without breaking them and the frst one we tried broke off below the threads. I know there is a tool made just for the extraction of the rest of the plug and that there is a possibility that I may need to take it somewhere and they may need to take the head off to get the rest of it out.... After breaking the first one off we didnt even attempt any of the others. Should I go ahead and take it to a mechanic to get the one fixed and the others replaced? or should I borrow the tool from my buddy and try to do it myself with the slight possibility i may make it worse... I still have the other 7 to replace :/
I'm just a blonde who has never replaced a spark plug in anything other than my mowing equipment.

Go Hard or Punt?

I don't believe it matters what color your hair is but rather your familiarity and comfort level with your skills. Contact your mechanic and determine if he/she has any experience in getting those out. If your mechanic does, it may be worth it to have that person do your repair. No sense making it worse if it can still be done without removing the head. If you are jonesin to get your hands dirty though, ask to be involved in the process. Good luck.

I'm not familiar w/ the Autolite video, but here's a link to the latest Ford procedure, basically the only change w/ the old one is they suggest using carb cleaner now instead of penetrating oil to break down the carbon better. https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...x.php?p=by_tsb

*edit* I can't get the direct link to work, but follow that one and then type 08-7-6 in the search box and it will come up.

If you followed that pretty closely then it might be best to just take it to someone who can fix it. If your procedure was different it might be worth it to try another - make sure it's on the same side in case you break another and worst things worse they had to pull the head. Basically it will have to go to the shop one way or the other and it shouldn't cost much more to extract 2 broken ones vs. just one, but if all goes well you can even get the extraction tool and try to get the broken one out yourself. I've not ever used the extraction tool, but others on here report that it's not that hard to use.
