Thank you for your input. So, if it were yours, would you build it with the 5.0L H.O. or try to keep it original.

I'm **** inre to originality and have been since I bought my first old rolling pile of misery in 1956, an all original 1936 Lincoln Zephyr with 40K on the clock for 200 buckaroos.

My dad (an Olds Dealer) said you're nuts, where will get parts for it? And if it needs them, you'll be buried in the pile, because it ain't worth 200 bucks as it sits.

A week later a guy drove by the house, spotted me detailing the V12 engine. "Do you want to sell it?" Twenty minutes later after a test drive, I had 500 buckaroos, the happy new owner picked up later that day.

My dad, when he found out, couldn't believe it!

btw: Since then, I've owned 336 other old rolling piles of misery, and my dad found out they were all worth more than he estimated.

Most everything is a rolling pile of misery to Bill, I don't think he likes anything.

I like money, women, Basset Hounds, NOS obsolete parts, money, Packards, WWII history, antique firearms, money, Fords, books on myriad topics, Pueblo & Catalina pottery, money, Second Mesa baskets. toy cars/trucks, traveling, money.

Old rolling piles of misery: Homage to a long time pal a mine now deceased who referred to his 'car collection' that way, cuz it consisted of nothing else.

He lived in, as he called it...'the weeds' (Littlerock CA) and bought the absolute worst stuff imaginable that he found in the desert. Some were real oddballs like a Morris Manure, MG Ragnette, Reo, Velie.

He showed up at my house one day with a 1951 Olds 98 sedan...the headliner was sagging, and the second he touched a part of it, it turned to dust.

Every pile he owned was also a rolling motel for rats, mice, ground squirrels and etc, cuz all had built nests in the piles.

It wasn't unusual for a lizard and/or mouse to run across the dash while he was motorin' on down the road. His house wasn't exactly clean either. SOP was to wipe your feet...when walking out the door!

Mr. NumberDummy, I enjoy reading what you have written and am always impressed. In your previous response, I noticed a recurring theme...

My capri had the 3.8 when I got it at 83k smoking and clattering I only drove it a few hundred feet. When I pulled it the freeze plugs in the back of the heads were Missing. I tore it apart an it had a bad headgasket. You can draw your own conclusion, but it at least uses the same bell pattern as a 302.
