18 MPG pulling a trailer @ 75 MPH would be a world record, i believe.

Jokes aside though, I've seen quite a few of these trucks getting good mileage, even stock. Mostly trucks that actually rule the highway. Mine makes an honest 18-20, but thats empty at 100km/h 60 mph.

I've run into an issue. After removing the coolers, I had the exhaust presure tube blow clear out of the pipe. Welded it back in with the plate off, took a magnet to get any debris out. Then I found the flange was about to fall off so I welded that too. A month or so later, boost pegged and blew the coonector hose to the turbo off. Put hose back on and watched, boost seemed higher than normal at times but not the same problem. Then it came off again, hose had been off many times for repairs so I relaced the hose. Hasn't reoccured. The real concern, at he time I was towing my empty car trailer up a long incline, my lie-o-meter had been reading 18+ for months (not reset), it since has dropped to 15 empty and won't recover. What's the damages? Seems to run the same.

70amcpwr,,would these issues not have happened if you had an aftermarket wastegate installed? I'm about to do the delete and now wondering if I should also get the wastegate done. Here is the link.

That I don't Know. I think the back presure valve failed to detect any presure at all and that's what caused the problem at the time. My question is, what's the damages?

Has anyone done a DPF delete, take out the EGR, install a block off plate and just reroute the coolant lines so that there i no coolant in the cooler. it seems that myself included that the issue of a cooler leaking coolant into the exhaust is a scary idea since it can possibly cause the motor to hydrolock.
removing the coolant flow is easy and creates no cooling issues for he truck, no chance of coolant leaking into the exhaust, and if the cooler gets a leak the worst thing to happen is you have a exhaust leak. not rendering the truck undrive-able.
the EGT should be lower with out the DPF and should not cause a issue just being deeded it the end of the cooler.
please share your thoughts

I did that. You don't actually have to remove the EGR valve. Depending on your tune, I did have to unplug it. After I did it the flex pipe that has the back pressure sensor failed. I deleted it and put the sensor in the block off plate. Got the plate from Rudy's.

I can't think of why it would smoke less. But in reality, the less smoke, the better.

I know and it seem way faster with the egr delete and a 4" down pipe but at idle it'll roll smoke but just gassin on it driving hardly nothing just have no clue why could it have anything to do with the old egr valve wires just hanging by the new elbow now ?

It means it's efficiently burning what it's getting.

I bought the cheapest kit on ebay. didn't use any of the fasteners that came with the kit, I just re-used the ones that were holding the original parts to the engine.

Took about 4 hrs. Before this, the most I've done on a diesel was change the oil and fuel filters, but I have been wrenching in the garage for many many years. All the bolts came out like they were installed yesterday, I guess that's the benefit of having a newer vehicle...
