1987 f-150 exhaust questions (what size...?)
I have an 87 f-150 w/ a 351W and it is in desperate need of exhaust. Is 3" pipe better or what size should I use? The engine is pretty much stock the most I will do is the intake but not drastic. And also what cat should I buy is a high flow cat that much better or me. and I was thinking of going flowmaster, but is there something better, I want it loud. Its a 4X4 and I want the sound to match the truck.
Are there complete systems avaliable for this. I don't really want to run duals. On top of everything I need to keep the cost down also.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Nov-02 AT 12:25 PM (EST)]I just did my 88F150 5.0 4x4 yesterday it already had stang hedders on it so from the y pipe I went with a high flow 3inch cat, thick wall 3inch pipe to a 3inch turbo style tube muffler then 3inch over the axle and out the side. Lots of flow and sounds real throaty. I spent $210 cdn for the cat, muffler, tubing. Then $20 for a muffler shop to bend up the tail pipe section for me.

i have a 95 f150 which has 2 inline cats. i replaced the second cat so the outlet is 3 inches (same as inlet) and then put on a flowmaster 2 chamber muffler (3 in inlet, dual 2-1/2 out). it then exits right in front of the passenger rear tire like the lightnings. it sounds great!
