What seals the dipstick tube to the block?

On my 93 F350 7.3 what seals the dipstick tube to the block? I have no idea how it was sealed before and I put a new oil pan and reasealed the engine so I wanna seal up the tube nice.

The adater should drive in snug, the oring doesnt work, clean well and use ultra rtv and let it set up. never leaks on mine yet. Make sure the top of the stick is mounted. or itl just shake loose.

yeah, in between the "ribs" is where an o-ring is supposed to go...you would probably have to get one from the dealership because it's a flatter oring. I went to Napa and tried all the o-rings they had but they are too round to allow the tube to slide in. However, this is a waste of time, like type four said just use some RTV, I used the "Right Stuff" gasket maker and let it sit overnight and it hasn't leaked as of today (1 day later). But, yes the ribs with some gasket maker slide into the elbow and then MAKE SURE you tighten the bracket at the top next to the valve cover so it doesn't pull out of that elbow (that's what got me into this mess)
