HELP! Bad water spots & paint overspray
Hi guys,
I really need some proven methods on removing bad waterspots from my windshield and other windows. Also, the dealer improperly covered my cab during a warranty repair/paint job and I just noticed severe overspray on the winshiled and side windows. Depending on your angle to the sun, most of the time you don't notice it, but in the evenings directly from the side, it's very noticeable.
I would prefer to take care of it myself, rather then let them try something. Suggestions would be much appreciated!!

Waterspots are almost always a result of hard water (lime and calcium concentrations). If you're careful, there are any number of bathroom tub and tile cleaners that should remove them. You have to be careful that these products ONLY come in contact with glass- they can make a real mess of paint, vinyl, rubber moldings, etc... It's best if you work on the glass with the product (CLR is one of the best) and a non-scratch scrubber, and have someone standing by with a hose so they can immediately rinse off any spills. As for the overspray, if it's only on the glass, then a good quality glass scraper should take it right off. Get one that an auto shop/ dealer would use to remove stickers with.

If the waterspots aren't too severe, try using straight vinegar poured onto a rag. My dad uses Vinegar & water to this day and swears by it. I just decided to see if straight vinegar would work on water spots. I was careful of the paint and rinsed the windows thoroughly afterwords.

FirstPickup;
Try this thread, we talked about something similar. Sorry I didn't hook up with you earlier, I was going to but got sidetracked.

Question;
If you're unhappy with the dealer's work, why not take it back and have them deal with the overspray and the glass?

HELP! Bad water spots & paint overspray
Believe it or not....mother's clay bar will take the water spots off both paint and glass.....
with paint, you must polish it up with a good polishing hand glaze or swirl remover...then seal the paint surface with a wax or polymer sealant....teflon sealers are fine too....
After the window is cleaned off, polish with mother's aluminum and mag wheel cleaner/polish.....and coat with some rain x.
in the future, to avoid spotting....use three towels to dry....first one just smear the water.....second to dry and third as a followup to detail and wipe of smudges....
keep your truck waxed or sealed every two to three months depending on what the weather is like....
