is my edge programmer to blame?
Hey y'all I been having some serious issues with my 2000 f150 5.4 170000 plus miles cai and 38 inch tires dual exhaust with dynomax mufflers and no cats. It all started when I bought an edge evolution programmer. My truck stalls and surges and when it stalls it won't start. The fues panel with click repeatedly and and you simply have to wait until its ready to restart. Its blowing lots of smoke from the exhaust that is dark smoke almost black and smells like raw gas. Iv replaced the throttle body the tps maf iac pcv and bttery and terminals. No results. Iv disconnected the battery to reset the pcm and took the programmer off still nothing. Now today I back out of the driveway and put it in drive and it reved out to about 3500 rpms and slammed into drive and barely wants too move. Once its in drive it shifts fine and runs alright until warm then it begins to stall and surge. Is my programmer to blame? Iv heard both way that it could possibly be the culprit and iv also been told that there's no way the programmer could cause these issues. Anyone got any advice to point me in the right direction. I'm at a loss for words with this truck and its my daily driver so I'm in dire need of help. Thanks in advance for any help

First thing is to return back to factory program and note what you get.
Then look for fault codes.
Don't depend on that programmer for all the codes.
As it is now your pouring gas through the motor and flooding it.
This risks melting the cats, washing the cylinders dry of lube etc.
Only place the gas comes from is the injectors being open to long in pulsewidth, as signaled by the program.
Good luck.

Seems we already have been through this cat situation before.
What is the sensor situation now?
You just can't let them hang unhooked up or not working with out expecting codes to be set.
The computer looks for them on a constant basis.
The EVAP is a different systerm and coukl result in an over rich condition depending on the fault.
If the front OX sensors are not working, the motor will run rich on fixed fuel tables, as a normal result.
It boils down to an old saying 'you play, you pay'.
My last reply because you have to many things going on, from back yard engineering, a factory system without knowing what your doing.
Good luck.
