1996 E40d wiring help!!!

I bought a 1996 f-150, it had a bad tranny. so i bought a tranny out of a 1993. they both are the e40d transmissions, everything lined up perfectly. but one plug does not fit, it is the shift soleniod plug on the passanger side of the tranny, i have the harness for the 1993 truck with the plug that fits in the transmission, i need a wireing diagram for both years so i can rewire the 1993 plug to the 1996 harness on the truck, they both have the same amount of wires, just 3 wires are differnt colors... someone please help!!!

Thinking the better option be put the 96 solenoid pack into the 93 trans (IIRC they are physically the same in every way other then connector, someone correct me if I'm wrong) no need cut splice wires that way. And the added benefit of fluid/filter change while your in there, the TC provides a handy drain plug so you can replace all the fluid.

That and if its PWM on that one ("96" maybe not?), you'd want that pack for that reason too.

Another thing is they changed some diodes from in the trans to the computer along this time frame, so the earlier solenoid pack may give problems, or leave something unprotected...

I don't know any more details on this but it would be in your best interest to check it out....

I agree with both opinions. Swap the solenoid blocks over.

Ford moved the solenoid protection diodes from the solenoid pack to the PCM in 1995. Put the 1996 block on the older 1993 transmission.

Yes.

Trying to use the 1993 solenoid pack with the 1996 computer may result in unpredictable operation. No sense introducing an unknown variable.

Just to be clear what are you referring to as "block"?
