f350 springs and shocks on a 150?

Pretty basic question, possible even a stupid one but is there any reason/ bennifit that a 350 leaf springs and shocks would do over the stock 150?

It will carry heavier loads but will make your truck ride like a chuck wagon with square wheels.

ok so no need for them. The thing is my buddy has a 97 f350 powerstroke and it sits pretty high. my 92 f150 looks like a fullsize lowrider. I know the shocks and springs need to be replaced but i dont think ill gain much in replacing them.

I also did the 844's in my truck. New leaf springs will lift the rear, or you can use some add-a-leafs.

Guys. he is talking about the LEAF SPRINGS. Not the coils.

wicat3,
is your truck 2wd or 4wd? If it is 2wd the F350 leaf springs will NOT fit. 2wd f150 leaf springs are 2.5" wide. F350 leaf springs are 3" wide. You could use the F350 rear springs if your truck is 4wd, yes it will ride harder, but it will not sag nearly as bad as the stock f150 springs

its a 4wd. Both trucks are 4wd. I was wondering leaf springs but my plan is to replace anything underneath at some point. The truck was worked hard and seems the best to do is start slowly restoring and upgrading. I plan on lifting it but some other things need to be adressed first such as rear shocks, as the outer casing looks like there rotting away! So any info is appreciated. The truck doesnt look like it sags it looks pretty straight but it sits so low considering my buddys is so much higher. It seems all the trucks around here sit higher then mine so I was wondering why and what i could do to change this. Like I said it seems to sit straight just low

getting a set of 265/75's will give you some lift as well vs the 235's (or equivalent), but it will knock off your speedometer by a few miles/hr and if you don't have a 410, 383, or (minimum) 355 gearing it will make the truck drag (particularly if you have a 302 since the power band is in the upper rpm). I just went through asking a million questions about this but I am personally not an expert, just parroting the responses I got. Good luck.

The new coil springs are solely responsible for any change in stance. Shocks don't lift. They compress to the space they occupy then absorb shocks. I could be mistaken but that is what I was told by a reliable mechanic. Good luck.
