1988 F250 4x4 DRW Conversion
Hey Guys...
I have my 1988 F250 4x4 Diesel that I am considering VERY Seriously on converting to a Dually setup.
Here is what I am wanting to do starting with the way it is Presently Configured.
Truck was OE Built with 8600lbs GVWR
I have the 10.25 Sterling Full Float Rear axle with 3.55's OE equipped in this truck.
I recently (Approx 6-8 weeks ago) swapped in a FRESH built Dana 60 with the Correct OE 3.54 Gear
What I am looking at doing...
I want to get the Dually Hubs for both the Dana 60 and the 10.25 Sterling and a Set of Dually Wheels.
I will also need to locate a set of Rear outer Fenders but I no longer have ANY idea where to find them... I know JC Whitney used to Carry them but I don't think they do anymore.
My Question....
Is My plan a Fairly sound plan or is there something I have not Considered??

you can buy adapters front and rear,
or use DRW factory HUBS up front (they are 4wd or 2wd specific.)
for the rear, either via adapters or you can swap in a whole DRW (pickup only! not c&c) rear axle.direct bolt in swap (making sure of the ratio of course.)
so for your truck.you'll need two donors.
from the F350 DRW cab and chassis grab:
the front DRW 4x4 HUBS w/rotors.and get your dually rims from this truck.getting them from this truck, will mean a deeper offset in the wheels, which means a larger cap between tires.these trucks can take a full 235/85/16 tire safely, where a DRW pickup cannot (pay no attention to the fools who do it anyway lol.they'll learn when they have a blow out,and ruin their fenders.)
from the 2wd DRW pick up,grab the rear axle.get your rims here if you plan on 215/85/16 or smaller tires is fine.also note,if you wish to run wider tires with these rims it's ok.but you'll need dually wheel spacers is all.
before the conversion, you should know DRW has more cons than pros over SRW.
if you need payload increase,or towing stability, then DRW is for you.
any other aspect at all that you can think of,will be a con compared to srw,a few examples are,but not limited to;
decrease in fuel economy.
firmer ride.
more expense when buying tires.
reduced traction.

And don't forget you'd need clearance lights if you make it a dually.
