There is a link in that thread that will take you to a chart for "no start" diagnosis.
That forum has lots of no-start threads, some current.
In general, diesels are far less tolerant of marginal batteries, terminals and connections. The starter has to run strong, with authority, or "no start". Check the voltage while starting and load test the batteries - same thing, sort of.
Don't use starting fluid on a diesel with glow plugs.
Probably your glow plug relay is on top of the engine and looks like a starter solenoid. There are variations so maybe not.
IIRC - Fuel pressure test port looks like tire valve and is on top of the engine also.
Powerstroke - HEUI. Uses engine oil for hydraulic pressure to fire injectors. Read.
