Nasty Diesel smell in cab

especially after running for a while on the freeway. Come to a stop and Whoof it stinks. Almost made the wife and I sick couple days ago. Doesnt happen all the time is the bugger..

Dealer says you get a smell after the exhaust filter cleaning. But Ive been getting the smell without the message. Cant convince them as when I take it in they cannot duplicate it.

EDIT, Someone brought up another message on this with a TSB. Time to call the dealer again.

Thanks Paul
As I said in the Edit, if it continues (and its not the oil cap as I had oil change last night) I be calling the dealer with the TSB number.

I've had the same exact problem since my truck was new in Jan 2011. I noticed it only happened when the air was on vent. BTW the truck will decided whether or not to use the vent or recirculate setting when the climate control is on auto. For this reason I was only getting the exhaust smell when it got cool enough outside for the system to use the vent setting. After reading some very good posts here in this forum I learned that the EGR tube right at the bend of the turbo exhaust down pipe is sometimes loose from the factory. Sure enough I checked it one day when the truck was cool and the nut on the EGR tube that connects it to the down pipe was never tightened at the factory. I could see the soot all over the down pipe. I was able to remove the passenger side wheel well cover in order to reach the nut and problem solved. No more exhaust smell in the cab.
