Blacking out the Ex (updates)

Welcome to the Blackout project. I started by blacking out my rims and front grille inserts. I like the unmarked trooper look a lot so i rolled with it. I'm gonna be trying out some BFG 305-65R18 tires on a 2 inch lift so this is temporary. I wasn't sure if I'd like it but I'm glad i did it. I used one can of flat black rust stop from Ace. It gave me a stealth look that looked even better with the chrome caps. I'm seriously thinking of going flat black on the entire grille and bumpers. I hope the wife puts those tires under the tree..I will even settle for some headlights.

I like the way it looks! Good job.
It definitely gives it that highway patrol look.

I agree with the highway patrol look. You should see how some vehicles wont pass me.. They sort of stay behind a bit or make unexpected turns.
I will be adding a CB radio soon to talk with some old trucker buddies and I'm sure the antennas will add to the look.

Thanks for the comment.

I'd still like to see a front shot. I know you posted a Photoshopped pic of the whole grill black but I'd like to see the chrome with black insert if you can. Thanks.

Here is a pic of the grill inserts painted black. I'll be taking some more with my new cam this afternoon. I'll post a few closer shots.

It pretty much looks like the factory grill. Not much different then the way it was before except it's cleaner and makes the ford emblem look better. What i wanted to do is paint the whole grill black. I found this one at rockAuto.com for only $44. It's from a 2005 f250 super duty. (will it work?) If i decide to order it I'll be painting my current one Flat black to see how that looks then gloss black just to see how that looks.

Sorry for the delay man been tide up with drywall and the truck has been a bit dusty for pictures. No sense in washing till I'm done with this project. I did manage to ****** a few pics today after a little rain that left the truck looking wet and sexy. I just picked up some blue beam lights I'm gonna be putting behind the grill.

I thought about that but I'm afraid to lose brightness. Their already a little yellow. I was looking at the Harley lights and I'm feeling those alot. But I might have to settle for the clears. I'm kind of on a budget till the holidays blow over but im doing the least expensive things i can, Like tinting the windows a bit darker, throwing in my dads old cb radio and a few antennas. I ordered those led lights for the running board and a set of those plug strobes for the blinkers.

I'll keep you all posted. Thanks.

Looks great! Are you considering a new career in law inforcement?

Becareful in westin area with blackout lights, wife was pulled over in your area with our blacked out Mustang.

Since then, I went back to clear in the rear but have left front blacked out.

Where did you have in mind on installing the antennas?
