Whipping my IDI 7.3

OK I have my 92 350 4 door lb auto trans 2 wheeler peeler . I have advanced the injection pump and it helped , it has open exhaust , no fish bowl ect ect . Im thinking of turning the pump up to help her fat *** get on down the road . I dont have a pyro and I dont pull much with it . If I keep it modest do I really need to put a pyro on this thing ? It has 350,000 on the clock so I have to keep it down a bit , its no spring chicken any more .
Another diesel guy told me the pump needed to be re timed or calibrated after the fact but from what I have been reading there is no need unless you molest the internal pressure '' inlet screw'' . Any word on this ?

With that many miles, do you know if the injectors and pump have been replaced? These are ware items, and should be replaced at around 100,000 miles. Refreshing these items will make a world of difference in the power.

How loud is it with open exhaust? My muffler is starting to rust and someone suggested straight pipes. I'm not really into loud trucks but if its not to loud and gets me some power well I might decide to live with it.

If you are not into loud trucks, you don't want straight pipes with a na engine.

open on this truck is outrageously loud , its great for keeping idiots from riding beside you , did not notice much power gain from taking it off . The truck is in imaculant condition , an old timer had since new , not a fan of the color , brown/tan with tan interior but not 1 oil leak , rattle ,dent tear scratch , nothing , nada, you can eat off the engine ,its a shame I have it . The ebay has refurbs for 300 or less but I may try to turn it up before I buy a refurb .

thank you Onus....it does sound like crap if it doesnt have a turbo, throw a picture of that bad boy up....i would recommend replacing the pump and injectors before turning up and old pump because you might have a oil pan full of diesel before you know it....

anything past , say 1800-2000 rpm sounds like 2 fat sweaty hairless *** cheeks slapping together during a long fart on concrete . BUT on top end driving down the road say 70-90mph it is very quite .
Anyone having problems with the lift pumps going bad running used oil ? My shop mates 6.9 went down after burning used motor oil .
What wears out on injection pumps ? The only thing this truck has ever had done to it is , starter , trans and glow plugs

I will just have to take your word for it on the discription of the noise. I have never run used motor oil, and have no plans to in the future, but if it is not filtered extremely well, I can see all kinds of premature failure. You didn't say how old the lift pump was that failed, is it possible that it was just time, as I think the used oil would be harder on the ip and injectors than the lift pump, just by the design. What kind of ratio is he using.
