I bought a 2008 CC F350 lariat the other week with the 6.4 diesel. The next day while driving on a snowy road my tire pressure light came on. I checked the tires, 65 rear and 52 front, both sides equal, none were low.

My tire pressure is fine, how can I reset the light? I press the reset button on the dash for the computer in the gauge cluster, but that doesn't work.

 

What is the tire pressure recommended on the Vehicle Certification Label. If you're not close to that the light is going to come on. I imagine the 52 in the front is well below their specification.

 

The 52 psi is too low to make the sensor happy. Also, it sounds like the truck is new to you. Are you sure the sensors are on the wheels? Are they the stock wheels and/or tires?

 

Find a nice sticker that covers the light. This TPMS deal is something that should have never been required.

 

They are stock wheels and stock sized tires.

The light wasn't on when I bought the truck... came on about 300 miles later...

 

On the drivers door frame is a sticker that should say what the tire psi should be. I do not work on any cc trucks so I can not tell you what it is and it is not in the owners manual.

As far as resetting the tpms, there should be a little remote clicker button in the owners manual package (most are beige with a green button). If not, you will need one of those at the minimum or the software. The instructions on how to set it are in the owners manual under tpms system. Its lenghthy to enter the programming mode and finicky at times. That being said, make sure you set the psis back to what the label says before you reset it. Sometimes, you can set it back to the proper air psi and then drive it a few miles and it will reset. Usually, you will have to do the reset procedure in the book and also will have to do it any time the tires are rotated. Sometimes it will not reset due to a faulty sensor. Your truck should have the band style sensors. The newer trucks have valve stem sensors.

 

65 front 75 rear...

I think the lights come on at 10% low... so 58 front and 67 rear.

 

I think that's actually 65/80 not 75, but as others have mentioned, 52 is too low to keep the sensor light off. Chances are, the dealer used the reset tool after rotating the tires, but once the PCM figured out the air pressures, it tripped the TPMS again.

The reset tool simply resets the wheel position within the PCM allowing you to move the rear tires to the front and the front to the rear when rotating. It doesn't allow you to reset the TPMS or override the TPMS in anyway.

 

Can you adjust the TPMS threshold on the '08's? I know the dealers are capable of doing it on the 11's, wasn't sure if they're using the same sensors/technology that would allow for adjustment.

 

my door sticker quite plainly says

Front: 65 psi
Rear: 75 psi
Spare: 75 psi

 

I fought this for a long time with my '10 after I lifted it and put my Goodyear MT/Rs on (which I run at about 55 psi). I took all four sensors, put them in a pvc tube with a schrader valve and pump them up to 80 psi and the truck is happy. The air does gradually leak out though so I think I'll make myself a copper version soon.

 

Txrebel..i think it may be different for reg vs cc. I am not 100 % sure but I think I have run into that before. May be thinking of something else though.

Don't think I've ever seen one that said 75, all the ones I've seen were 80, and I've looked. :shrug:

 

Mine says 55 front, 75 rear. But it's a much older model. I don't have to worry about TPMS.

 

The pressure given on the cert label will be different for all the different combinations of cab, GVWR, and tires shipped. You cannot assume they will be the same for different trucks, even within a model year.

For the OP, 52psi is too low for your Superduty, and driving in snow will reduce the pressures too. Add a few psi of air and the light will be happy again.
