lacking mad power

I just set my timing yesterday. my light didnt work so I had to just turnthe distributor until the engine smoothed out and the ping and smoke went away. maiden voyage this morning. The engine is lacking alot of power It will barley even drive in over drive, pedal to themedal it just down shifts and then really doesnt pick up power or speed, amd in regular driving it just doesnt have enough power to smoothly drive in od , its just a flat power, Do I need to advance a fewmore degress or do i need to back it off?

My light got shot too, this is how I did mine, ignore the carb talk...you will get more use out of a vacuum gauge, and its cheaper than buying a decent light, undo the spout. Vacuum Engine Timing | MILEPOSTS Garage (Tech Tips)

He tells you how in the article. You use the unused port on the intake, you should see a little black cap by all the other lines.,....and yes, unplug the spout, but remember to plug it back in when you are done.
