Front fender trimming

Trying to fit slightly larger off-road tires on my 01 F250. I do not want a lift, or at least not anything more than perhaps 2" at most. I am thinking of trying to trim the rear of the fenders since that's where the tires would rub, especially when near or at full steering lock. It looks to me like I can cut a section out of the fender behind the wheelwell edge (like a long skinny pie slice) and then weld the original back on to allow reattachment of the inner fender liner. The rest of the wheelwell looks like it will work for up to 35" tires with no lift.

Has anyone tried this? Or does anyone have any better ideas for fitting larger tires with zero or minimal lift?

A 2" kit would get you 35's. I wouldnt trim the fender. With that kit you might still rub the plastic inner fender but you can pull the 2 screws out that connect it to the rear of the fender well and push it back i got almost 2 inches and then screw it there.
