Help me figure out this metal-on-metal noise.
I parked my 89 F250 in my sig last year when it got wrecked. I put on a new bed and it hasnt been started in awhile (aprox 8 months). Now that winter is around the corner i pulled i out the other day and to my suprise i have a loud metal-on-metal sound coming from the back/bottom of the motor/trans. I thought that it may be low on oil soi did an oil change and nothing changed. I drove it down the road to my building where i work on vehicles and popped off the trans inspection plate. I see nothing on there (TQ bolts) that could be making this noise and nothing of suspect. Power is great. oil pressure is at 40 at idle and goes up when throttle is givn. This motor was rebuilt in the last year or two and runs perfect, i just have this noise going on and i cant figure it out.
Just to throw this out there, it is not there at idle, and barley noticable/nonexistant in drive, it is loudest in reverse. What do you all think it could be?

Why do you say that? I just sold one with 87k on it for 700 bucks 6 months ago. I'm going to kick myself if this trans goes out. Or I'll pull the motor, tires, New tanks, and plow off of it and scrap it. Body is falling apart anyways.
Trans does shift fine though. Still lets me spin the 33s

It was just the bed that got damaged in a freak plowing accident. Tried to plow a 6 foot drift and ended up floating over about 2.5ft of it and got stuck. Couldnt go forward, but would move in reverse so i held it to the floor and what do ya know... Snow tucked itself in the wheel wells and made me make a sharp right turn. Right into a brick building.
I will try to get a video of it up tomorrow if i can find some help.

wow hah what are the chances. Could there be a possibility that you slammed your drive shaft into your transfer case and transmission somehow grinding up only your reverse gear. This would make sense because you were in reverse when you had the accident, but I'm not sure if this would even be possible.
