New (TO ME) overhead compass/temp guage!

Does anyone know where, and if the compass sending unit can be realligned to work properly? I just got a replacement overhead compass/temp guage and the temp works good, but the compass is way off! If anyone knows the fix, I would appreciate it!

There is a special procedure to get the compass to relearn, probably something about it in your owners manual. Involves driving in a circle from what I remember but don't remember what buttons you have to hit first.

Copied from a google search for a F150 owner's manual, then found the compass info there. The map didn't copy showing what parts of the country are in what zone, so you will have to google to find it.

Compass
The compass display is contained in the overhead console. The vehicle
heading is displayed as one of N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW.
The compass reading may be affected when you drive near large
buildings, bridges, power lines and powerful broadcast antenna. Magnetic
or metallic objects placed in or on the vehicle may also affect compass
accuracy. Adjustments may need to be made to the zone and calibration
of the compass.
Compass zone adjustment
1. Determine which magnetic zone
you are in by referring to the zone
map.
2. Turn the ignition to the ON
position.
3. Press and hold the SELECT
control until VAR appears in the
display, then release. The display
should show the current zone
number.
4. Press the SELECT control until
the desired zone number appears.
The display will flash and then
return to normal operation. The zone is now updated.

If you scan through that button to find VAR, you might also find one which says CAL or just C. If you leave that on, and drive in a circle slowly three times, it should also calibrate.

Hey, Jim! Anything to get you going in the right direction!

Come back and let us know how you made out or if you still have a problem. The directions I copied were for a 2003, didn't know what year yours is or if it makes a difference.
